Shah Deniz 2 — Split Drum Hose Deployment
Wireless split-drum spooler for pre-commissioning Shah Deniz 2 in the Caspian — twin 600m SoluForce hoses, integrated emergency cutter, 277 bar working pressure.
Together with our client we delivered and factory-tested a wireless-operated split-drum hose deployment and recovery system, powered by a 55 kW HPU.
The drum carries two 600m H 415 SoluForce hoses at 277 bar working pressure, fed from a vessel-based Halliburton pump spread through a full-bore swivel. Each 600m length was manufactured as 470m sections at the SoluForce facility in Enkhuizen and joined with Flex Joints.
A unique twin-carriage level wind lets each hose be operated individually — one 600m hose stays on the drum as a contingency, isolated with a blind spade. The integrated chute and cutter carry an accumulator that activates the cutter in emergencies such as a black ship or DP run-off.
The package is destined for Halliburton Eurasia in Baku, installed on an RFO vessel for pre-commissioning (flooding, cleaning, gauging, testing, dewatering) on the Shah Deniz 2 deepwater flanks project in the Caspian Sea, operating in water depths of around 530m.
FCS has supplied deployment and recovery systems for over 20 years, helped introduce both Polyflex Black Eagle and SoluForce hoses to the offshore market, and remains the Scandinavian agent for Parker (including the BE range) and SoluForce.
