Deep-Water Pipeline Pre-Commissioning
Two downline systems for wet buckle contingency, leak testing, and dewatering — built and shipped in 10 weeks.
We delivered two complete downline systems to support deep-water pipeline pre-commissioning in Southern Italy.
Stage one: 850m of 5" SoluForce hose in two sections installed on a 4.5m drum with live centre and swivel, deployed by a newly manufactured spooler unit (FCS-10304) powered by one of our HPUs. All equipment shipped from Sola by road and sea to the construction vessel mobilisation ports of Palermo/Trapani. Purpose: wet buckle contingency during pipe installation.
Stage two: 800m of 2" Black Eagle hose on our hose reel (FCS-10014) with HPU, chute, and subsea breakaway unit. Shipped from Sola by road to Trapani. Purpose: pressurising the tied-in pipeline system for leak testing.
On completion of the leak test, dewatering mobilised a liquid nitrogen spread onboard one vessel — nitrogen injected via the 2" Black Eagle hose, with displaced fluids returning through the 5" SoluForce hose to a tanker.
From the decision to support the project (16 March 2023) to function-testing complete (5 June 2023): total 10 weeks. That included building a replacement spooler from scratch because the planned unit was assigned to a project in Australia.
