Treating Iron

Safety Iron® Connections

Safety Iron® connections feature a seal ring made of a soft seal and a metal-to-metal seal, an upper clamp with “captive” bolts, and a lower threaded clamp. The metal seal ring and rubber seals freely slip into the tapered flange end.

Sealing is accomplished by the end crush on the rubber seal and tapered metal contact from the clamp force. The large sweeping radii provide increased strength at connections.

Safety Iron® connections offer sturdy wall thickness in higher stress areas and greater vibration resistance compared to traditional hammer unions. The combined result is a superior performing connection that is ideal for flow line applications with greater load stresses. Safety Iron® components are manufactured in 2-inch to 4-inch sizes with a pressure rating up to 15,000 psi.
