Stavanger, Norway – 3 December 2025

Fluid Control Service (FCS), in close collaboration with SLB and Aker BP, has successfully deployed a revolutionary short-term Flexible Squeeze Riser (FSR) package on the Edvard Grieg platform, marking a significant leap forward in offshore scale-squeeze efficiency and safety.

The fully integrated, onshore pre-rigged unit eliminates the traditional challenges of large manual rig-ups that previously required 13 personnel, multiple pumps, extensive treating iron and hours of labour per well. Instead, the new solution arrives ready to operate: a complete combined manifold, choke, mixing system and flow-control package housed in a single open-top basket connected via a 3” 10K Black Eagle hose routed through the intervention hatch.

Key features of the new system include:

  • All treating lines, chokes and flow-control components pre-connected onshore
  • Full compatibility with standard Wireline Risers for future campaigns
  • All operations conducted on one deck level with zero heavy manual lifts
  • Dramatically reduced rig-up/rig-down time and rapid well-to-well transitions

Designed from the ground up with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) as the top priority, the package addresses long-standing pain points in scale-squeeze operations while providing critical learning for the upcoming long-term riser solution.

Senior management from both SLB and Aker BP have praised the exceptional speed of delivery and quality of execution. The pre-rigged FSR has demonstrated the potential to become the preferred standard for enhanced well interventions in future field practices.

Thomas Madsen, SLB’s Project Lead for the Intervention & Stimulation Alliance, commented: “We set out to remove complexity, reduce personnel exposure and slash non-productive time – and we have delivered exactly that. This short-term solution is already proving itself offshore and gives us invaluable real-world data for the permanent Flexible Squeeze Riser that will follow.”

The successful deployment on Edvard Grieg demonstrates once again how targeted collaboration between operator, service company and specialist providers can drive genuine innovation in mature offshore environments.
