FCS delivers Hose Transfer System for TP3 Well Clean-up operation

Jun 4, 2021 | News

Over that last days, Fluid Control Service’s dedicated team have together with our client Equinor and representatives from the DeepOcean installation vessel team been busy spooling 1,8km SoluForce hose. The hose system is to be used for the transfer of Well Cleanup fluids between the Troll A platform and the DP2 shuttle tanker Siri Knutsen during to upcoming TP3 Well Clean-up operation.

Fluid Control Service AS (FCS) have been engaged by Equinor for the delivery of a complete package to enable transfer of liquids at a flow rate of 3,3m3/min. with an approx. pressure of 25bar to include engineering/delivery and transfer equipment package including main components such as the SoluForce H 515 hoses, hydraulic powered deployment reels, HPU’s over-boarding chutes and auxiliary installation aids such as custom built Bend stiffener, Buoyancy elements (48 off), pull-in caps/securing clamps etc. (all designed and manufactured in house).

The equipment will consist of two (2) reel systems each containing 900m of SoluForce H 515 (6ND) hose to be deployed from the installation vessel Edda Freya, a specially designed new build recovery chute complete with inbuilt accumulator and a KLAWZero dry disconnect unit to be installed onboard the Troll A platform. The well clean-up fluids will be pumped from a temporary process/storage facility installed on the Troll A platform operated by EXPRO to the DP2 shuttle tanker Siri Knutsen operated by Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers AS.

Description of the work to be performed

Prepare equipment and function test prior to mobilization to include:

  • Modify steel drum with live shaft terminating in GR46 Grayloc hub
  • Produce four (4) SoluForce H515 GT RTP pipe 6″ND 450m long at SoluForce facility – Netherlands
  • Develop/manufacture hang off station c/w integrated KLAW 0 unit.

      Manage interface between all parties

Develop project specific procedures including Hose connection/disconnection procedures

      Participate in project HAZOP

Prepare equipment and perform inspection/function test (SIT) at FCS prior to mobilisation

Mobilise equipment onboard the Installation vessel

  • Two (2) SoluForce 6ND hose/reel systems length 900 meter and utilities such as chutes etc.

            Mobilise equipment onboard Troll A

  • Hang-off stations c/w KLAW Zero breakaway units installed on Troll A, C18 North side.

        Offshore scope:

2-man crew to install the hose chute/recovery system onboard Troll A

4-man crew to install the hose subsea from the installation vessel Edda Freya

2-man crew onboard Troll A during WCU operation

4-man crew to recover the hose from subsea onboard the installation vessel Edda Freya

2-man crew onboard Troll A for removal of equipment
